Almost three years. That's how long it's been since I left corporate world to pursue my love of all things real estate and I have not regretted it for one second. I've learned a lot along the way and built great relationships too. Cool bonus! Helping families reach their goals and knowing they are properly represented has been very rewarding for me. It also helps when you're a sucker for looking at homes, decorating & staging them, photographing, talking about, and just about anything else you can think of when it comes to a home.
A house is typically the largest asset we have, therefore buying and selling should be handled with care. Surrounding yourself with the right people is a must and wise council is wise. See what I did there 😎. Being a realtor means wearing many hats but when I think about what matters most, here's what comes to mind.
#1. Peace Of Mind
Security. Relax. Rest easy.
A good agent works hard to keep you out of trouble on many fronts. Undue stress, being taken advantage of, avoiding delays & costly mistakes. These are things we all want to avoid when going through the process of buying or selling a home. One of the hardest things for a buyer to do when house hunting is identifying hidden issues. Your agent pays attention to things you might miss and will ask important questions you might not think of. Hiring someone who's been there and done that many times makes sleeping at night much more comfortable.
#2: Time
On your side. Of the essence. Has its own magazine.
We're all looking fore more precious time in our lives. More time with family & friends. More time spent on hobbies, leisure, or whatever blows your hair back. Buying or selling a home takes an unbelievable amount of time and energy. Making your listing STAND OUT from the crowd, Identifying potential houses, setting up showings, and organizing paperwork are a few tasks your real estate agent manages as they guide you through the process. Hire a pro and let them do the heavy lifting.
#3: Expert Guidance
We all need a Yoda...
You don't need to know everything about buying and selling real estate if you hire a real estate professional. Henry Ford said that when you hire people who are smarter than you are, it proves you are smarter than they are. Having a knowledgeable expert that has your best interest at heart is priceless. A guide for every step of the way.
#4: Getting The Best Possible Deal
Make it happen. Get it done. Results!
Good agents are good negotiators. They are trained to present their client's case in the best light and agree to hold client information confidential from competing interests. They are your biggest advocate and also help take emotion from the process. The best agents make sure you don't leave money on the table as well as sell at a higher price in fewer days.
#5: Realtors' Rolodex
Ooh that sounds bougie!
Real estate agents are well connected. We have a vast network and information on reputable home inspectors, lenders, trades, contractors, and other professionals for most any task. If you need something, I've got a guy! Knowing and networking with a ton of other agents is also a plus. You never know when word of mouth is exactly the thing that can lead to a sale.
I'll never forget my first transaction. I probably called my broker 20 times that weekend to make sure I didn't make a mistake. My clients received full price in 10 days and that spark was the kick-start I needed for my real estate career. Since that time I've been blessed to help dozens of families, be named Realtor of Distinction by our local association of realtors, and develop relationships that I'll enjoy for a long long time. I love what I do and consider myself very lucky to be in this profession.
